Hyper Light Drifter Dev’s Possessor(s) Launches on Switch 2 Next Week
The creators of Hyper Light Drifter, Heart Machine, are bringing their latest Metroidvania, Possessor(s), to the Nintendo Switch 2 next week.
Originally released on PlayStation 5 and PC, Possessor(s) will officially launch on Nintendo’s new console on April 29, 2026. The game is published by Devolver Digital, known for its strong lineup of indie titles.
A New Metroidvania from the Hyper Light Drifter Team
Possessor(s) is a fast-paced action-platformer that blends tight combat mechanics with deep exploration. Set in the haunting ruins of the city of Sanzu, players must navigate a dangerous world filled with enemies, secrets, and interconnected environments—hallmarks of the Metroidvania genre.
Fans of Hyper Light Drifter can expect the same signature style from Heart Machine, including fluid animations, atmospheric storytelling, and a striking visual presentation.
Switch 2 Release Brings New Opportunity
The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version gives players another way to experience the game, whether at home or on the go. With growing interest in next-gen Nintendo hardware, Possessor(s) could reach an even wider audience on release.
A Challenging Time for the Studio
The release also comes during a difficult period for Heart Machine, following recent layoffs and changes surrounding their project Hyper Light Breaker. Despite this, the studio continues to deliver unique and visually impressive experiences.
