In today's Nintendo Direct, a new 2D installment in the Mario franchise was unveiled.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the title of the upcoming game, set to be released on October 20th. This new entry showcases a distinct art style, setting it apart from the New Super Mario Bros. series. Mario gains new power-ups and abilities, such as transforming into Elephant Mario. The game introduces Wonder Seeds and Wonder Flowers, mysterious items that will have unique effects in each stage. Players can take on the roles of Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, and Daisy, with Yoshi making a return as well. While solo play is an option, the game also offers four-player co-op mode.
